DIY-Natural Hair and Face Masks

Ingredients:

1 ripe avocado

1 spoon full of honey

as many drops of lavender as you'd like

Ingredients:

Half a lemon

1 tablespoon of honey

raw honey is better :)

Fresh lemons!! Yay!

The Avocado Mask combines honey, lavender and avocado to lift pollutants out of your hair, stimulate the hair follicles, moisturize/seal the cuticle and sooth your nerves.

I like to leave my hair mask on for 45 minutes to an hour. I rinse my hair really well, shampoo twice with my favorite, Avalon Organics Volumizing Shampoo and follow it up with a cold rinse. Im not big into conditioners so I finish up with The Beauty Protectors Protect and Detangle. It's light, has UV protection and smells divine! 

I suggest letting your hair dry about 80% before you go in and smooth it out with a round brush and blow dryer. 

For the face mask I've combined honey and lemon to brighten and moisturize. Be careful with the amount of lemon you put in, it can be a little irritating to sensitive skin. If you're new to this mask, start out with a small amount of lemon and gradually work your way up or do a patch test. 

Leave it on for 30 minutes and rinse with cool water. Pat dry and you have hydrated and brightened skin!

Healthy living-Apple Cider Vinegar Tonic

I try to eat as healthily as possible, but sometimes I don't always succeed. When that happens I try and redeem myself by starting with a cleansing morning concoction. Im going to break it down for you so when you're feeling a little blah you can benefit from this great natural pick me up as well!!

Here are the ingredients:

1 cup Hot Water

2 caps full of Organic Apple Cider Vinegar

1 teaspoon Honey

Chopped Ginger

Half Lemon

Cayenne if you have it 

You can mix and match as much or as little of the ingredients as you like. I just gave you an example of the combo I use. I rely heavily on ginger so I always chop extra for mine and I do like to add the cayenne for an extra kick and gut balancing power. 

Each ingredient has a wealth of goodness for you body so drink up and feel great!!

Spring Make Up Trends-Coco Cat Eye

Spring is almost upon us so I've decided to do my season appropriate take on the traditional Cat Eye.

 The cat eye is something that will never go out of style, mainly because its a classic but also because it can be modernized by switching up your color palettes and thats exactly what I did! 

For my Spring Daytime Cat Eye I'm using  Origins GinZing Brightening Cream Shadow in Go Go Espresso. It compliments my brown eyes perfectly while still giving them a little sexy something extra.  Not too heavy, but just right.

The One I Love.

This Moonstone ring reminded me of a friends ring only this one has Moonstone in it while hers had Citrine. I had always loved that ring of hers and dearly wanted one of my own so when I saw this posted on The One I Love's website I knew I had to make it my own. Its so beautiful in person, Moonstone set in Rose Gold, swoon. I haven't taken it off since it's arrived in the mail and although I have been feeling my friends spirit with me,  everytime I look at my ring and it lets off a purple glint its like a little wink from the heavens. The Braiding Game.

Big fan of braids! They are the reason I'm growing my hair long again. I'm going to take those cool old school updos and make them modern....on my head....with braids. Yay!! 

This one is simple!

Just take 2 pieces of hair and twist them into each other along the perimeter of your fringe.  

Great for camouflaging those annoying bangs you're trying to grow out or just cuten up your day time look.

Save & Splurge: Organic Skin Creams Reviewed

I like to try out new skin creams pretty regularly. All in the same natural vein, but I do like to shop around in different price points so that I have something to recommend for every budget. So welcome to the Brightening Serum edition of Save/Splurge!! 

In category SAVE we have this delightful little blend by Andalou! I got it from Whole Foods a couple of weeks ago and have to say, I like it. Priobitics are great internally so why not externally and Vitamin C is perfect for brightening and offering a little extra Sun protection!

 In our SPLURGE category we have Origins Mega Bright! I do love both and think they do a great job of lightening those pesky dark marks but if you can work it into your budget I would suggest eventually investing in Origins Mega Bright. It made my skin luminous!!

Handwriting & New Make Up.

I've decided to take up yet another hobby lol, handwriting! I went to catholic school when I was little and cursive was a priority, big time and as I got into High School, bubble letters ruled my world. My mother also has the most beautiful handwriting ever so with the invention of fun apps like A Beautiful Mess I found myself wanting to just write out the letters the way I wanted. Thank you Papaya for supplying me with pretty books to write in and thank you ABM for the inspiration. The make up is Tarte Powder and the mascara was free Birthday gift from ULTA. Yee!! I love goodies!!

So many goodies so little time! This is probably the single greatest beauty lover invention ever, so to you BIRCHBOX inventor, I love you. I will post a review of all of the products, but thus far the Shu Uemura Cleansing Oil is out of control good. I am thinking of clunking down the $55 for a bottle. I know, I know! An insane amount of the green stuff for a bottle of shampoo, but its an almost 14 oz bottle and you only need 1 pump so it could last you a reaaaaally long time and it made my hair really really pretty. Sold!

1. Get unsweetened Soy Milk
2. Cotton ball
3. Soak cotton ball in Soy Milk
4. Apply all over face and neck
5. Relax for 15 minutes with mask on
6. Rinse with cool water 
7. Voila!! Brighter, healthier, happier skin!!

i rode my bike over  to williamsburg the other day popped into catbird amongst other stores and i picked up these delicate little wisps of beauty, some delicious vanilla for the fellas as i like to say perfume and a beautiful citrine stone that i have been meditating with every night from the little store across the street. i've basically been wearing my memory and threadbares everyday since i got them and i have to say for such delicate little bands they are super tough.  my vanilla perfume has been getting mixed with patchouli and lavender, i'm taking it back to 6th grade circa 1996 and i am perfecting my hippie love potion dreams. everything is coming up magical this spring and i want to role with this sweetness for as long as i can.

Pamper Yourself

I did a little pamperin on my day off today and I am feeling pretty pretty pretty snazzy. My hair mask is a combo of 1 table spoon of honey, 1 tablespoon of olive oil and 1 whole avocado. Mix it all together, evenly cover your hair, wait 20-60 minutes, shampoo and condition follow with and ice rinse. My face mask is Eclos Clay mask.
